One of the most common beauty complaints are definitely dark circles. They tend to make people look tired, sick and even depressed, so it’s no wonder everyone wants to get rid of their dark circles.
There are numerous factors that can contribute to dark circles, including:
- Lack of sleep/poor sleep,
- Dehydration and unhealthy diet,
- Nasal congestion,
- Thin skin,
As you can see, we do have control over some of these factors (sleep, diet, sun exposure), but not all of them.
For example, if we have hereditary dark circles, there’s little we can do about them. However, we definitely can reduce the darkness and puffiness somewhat. And for this, natural remedies can be really effective.
Turmeric Natural Remedy
Turmeric, a spice that has been used for centuries not only for its taste but for its medicinal properties too, can help with dark circles. Some of the health benefits of turmeric are:
- Increases antioxidant capacity in the body,
- Reduces overall inflammation,
- Aids in prevention of all types of cancer,
- Helps control high blood sugar,
- Promotes liver health,
- Promotes brain health,
- Heals wounds/ improves the appearance of skin.
Thanks to its high antioxidant content, turmeric can help with numerous different health problems and conditions, including dark circles.
To reduce the darkness around your eyes, you can make a simple turmeric home remedy.
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric,
- 1 teaspoon of grated potato (its juice),
- ½ teaspoon of coconut oil,
- A bit of milk.
Put the turmeric in a small bowl and add a bit of a warm milk. Stir the two ingredients together. Next, add the potato juice and coconut oil, mixing the remedy into a paste. If the paste is too thick, add a bit more of milk.
Apply the remedy around your eyes, lie down and relax for a few minutes (the longer the better). Remove the paste with warm water and apply a moisturizer.
To get the best results, apply the turmeric paste 2-3 times per week.
