Everyone has pores – we need them in order to sweat, produce sebum that acts as a natural moisturizer and to excrete various other fluids, including toxic waste from our bodies. But why do some people have small pores and other people large ones? Generally speaking, it all comes down to your skin type – the oilier your skin is, the larger pores you’ll have.
Since there is no point in fighting your own genetics, there is no point in trying to get rid of your pores. You can, however, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, and therefore improve your skin texture and quality.
Here are 3 natural, DIY remedies that can help you minimize the appearance of large pores.
1. ACV Toner
The low pH of Apple Cider Vinegar can protect and support your natural moisture skin barrier, tighten your skin and reduce the appearance of large pores. In addition, it has antibacterial properties, so it can help fight acne.
- 3 teaspoons of ACV
- 1 cup of cold water
Mix the ingredients together, and then soak a cotton ball in the solution and apply it to your face. Let it completely get absorbed (wait about 3 minutes) and then rinse with cold water. Follow with your regular moisturizer.
2. Egg White + Oats Mask
Egg whites are among the best remedies for super oily skin and enlarged pores. They help tighten the skin, draw out excess oil and improve the skin tone. Oats have anti-inflammatory properties and are fantastic for soothing the skin and fighting acne.
- 1 egg white
- Oats and oat water
First, soak 1 tablespoon of oats in a little bit of water (make sure the oats are covered) for a few minutes and then boil them. Let it cool and then mix the oats and the water used for boiling with the egg white and apply to cleansed skin generously. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
3. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years as a skin remedy. It has anti-inflammatory properties, can help the skin heal faster, it fights acne and improves overall skin tone. In addition, Aloe vera is excellent for reducing the appearance of enlarged pores.
- Just take a mature Aloe Vera leaf, cut on half and scoop out the gel. Apply to cleansed skin – no need to rinse it off.
