Who doesn’t like a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning (or anytime really)? According to studies, most of us do – Americans get more antioxidants from coffee than from anything else, and Europeans are not far behind.
Good news is – coffee is actually incredibly healthy so don’t feel guilty about pouring yourself another cup of Joe. However, it may be a good idea to learn how to prepare your favorite cup of coffee in a way that will double its health benefits and even help you lose weight.
The Do’s and Don’ts
If you want to lose weight, boost your immune system and generally feel better, all you have to do is prepare your coffee in a slightly different way.
Don’t: Let’s start with the obvious thing – sugar. Completely AVOID putting refined sugar in your coffee. Sugar is bad for your health in many, many ways, but it’s also the number one enemy of weight loss and trim figure. So if you’re mixing sugar with your coffee, just drop it all together – you’ll get used to it quickly and you’ll do loads for your health.
DO: Now let’s start with the do’s – add spices and healthy fats to your coffee, such as cinnamon, cocoa, coconut oil and raw honey. These ingredients will not only make your coffee taste fantastic, but will also:
- Increase the amount of antioxidants you’re getting from coffee,
- Support your immune system and improve your overall health,
- Boost your metabolism and help you lose weight,
- Fill you up and make you eat less.
How to Prepare It
To drink your new and improved cup of coffee, let’s mix those ingredients together first. Here is what you need:
- 1 tsp of cocoa
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- ¾ a cup of cold-pressed coconut oil
- ¼ a cup of raw honey
If your coconut oil is not in liquid form, melt it first. Then, add the rest of the ingredients and stir well. Once mixed, transfer the creamer in a glass jar and keep it in the fridge.
Every time you make your coffee, add a teaspoon of this to the cup, stir well, and enjoy!
