Keep Your White Clothes Stainless and Crisp White Naturally

Everyone loves a crisp white shirt, but not everyone can keep it that way for a long time. No worries though, with these tips and tricks you’ll be able to keep all your white clothes white forever!

1.    Baking Soda

One of the best natural whitening agents, baking soda will whiten and brighten your clothes. Just mix one cup of baking soda with 4 cups of water and use this mixture for soaking – soak your white clothes in it for a few hours, rinse them and then wash them as you normally would. Or, add the baking soda in your washing machine: one cup of baking soda per load of laundry.

2.    Lemon Juice

Lemons are great not only for brightening your clothes but for getting rid of odor as well. All you have to do is soak your white clothes for a few hours in lots of hot water in which you have added one cup of lemon juice. You can even leave them soaking overnight and then wash them in the washing machine in the morning as you normally would.

3.    White Vinegar

Thanks to acetic acid, white distilled vinegar can not only whiten your clothes but soften the fabric too. Just add half a cup of regular white vinegar to your rinse cycle or soak the clothes for an hour before washing them. Either way, white vinegar is guaranteed to brighten and soften your clothes.

4.    Powerful DIY Whitening Solution

If you want an all guns blazing, super-powerful whitening solution, this is for you. Take half a cup of borax, half a cup of bleach, one cup of laundry soap, one cup of dish soap and mix them all in lots of hot water. Then take your white clothes, soak them in the solution for a few hours and then wash them as you normally would.

5.    Sun

Finally, a tried and tested method: leaving your clothes dry in the sun. UV radiation has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and will help your white clothes stay crisp white for as long as possible.
