Get Rid of Nail Fungus With a Mix of Oregano Oil and Olive Oil

Nail fungus is a common problem that can occur in either fingernails or toenails. This unpleasant condition can affect both men and women (although men appear to be more prone), and it can be hard to get rid of.

How Nail Fungus Develops

The main reason for developing nail fungus is a humid and warm environment – which is the kind of environment our feet experience every time we wear shoes. Combine a humid and warm environment with a weakened immune system, diabetes or even poor hygiene and you have a perfect recipe for nail fungus.

But the real problem occurs if the affected nail is left untreated  – this can lead to nail cracking and even loss of the nail!

Although not contagious, nail fungus does mean you should be extra-careful with your clothes, shoes and gloves and not share your things with other people.

Natural Remedy for Nail Fungus

Usually, medicated nail polish and creams along with oral antifungal pills are prescribed for nail fungus. However, there is a simple, natural and very effective remedy for this common problem that can help you get rid of nail fungus in no time – oregano oil and olive oil.

Oregano oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic and antiparasitic oil, which makes it perfect for getting rid of nail fungus. Oregano oil can be taken orally but also applied topically, which is what we’re suggesting in this article.

Olive oil has been used as a skin moisturizer for centuries for a reason. This oil is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants which help nourish the skin, moisturize it and keep it young and supple. Since oregano oil is best used diluted, olive oil is a perfect solution to this.

Oregano Oil and Olive Oil Mix

To prepare this natural remedy, you only need two ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 drops of oregano oil

Mix oregano oil in olive oil and blend the two ingredients well.

Apply the remedy on the affected nails and let it do its job for 30 minutes. Then, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Repeat the process two times a day, until your nails are healthy again.
