Radishes, cruciferous red vegetables usually added to various salads, pack a huge amount of vitamins and minerals that are great for your health and that can even help you lose weight.
Health Benefits of Radishes
Radishes are rich in vitamin C and B, dietary fiber, folate, riboflavin, potassium, copper, magnesium, manganese and calcium. Overall, they are a powerhouse of nutrients. To top it off, radishes are low in calories with a low glycemic index, so they’re great for weight loss and regulating the blood sugar.
Other health benefits of radishes include:
- Relieving congestion,
- Preventing constipation,
- Detoxifying, antibacterial and antifungal properties,
- Anti-cancer properties.
But most importantly, studies have shown that, just like other cruciferous veggies, radishes contain a lot of glucosinolates, which is a compound that enhances detoxification.
