If you’re drinking a cup of green tea every day, you’re already doing a lot for your health and beauty (and if you’re not, start now!). Green tea is highly rich in antioxidants and polyphenols which help boost the immune system, neutralize free radicals (protect the cells from damage) and fight many diseases. In fact, regularly consuming high-quality green tea can:
- Lower your risk of cancer,
- Improve your heart health,
- Boost your brain health,
- Lower your diabetes risk,
- Improve your dental health,
- Help you burn fat,
- Increase your lifespan.
Obviously, green tea has enormous health benefits and should be consumed regularly. But that’s not all. Green tea also has pretty amazing beauty uses and benefits too!
Green Tea’s Beauty Uses
Now that you’re (hopefully) convinced you should drink a cup of green tea every day, here is why you should keep your tea bags instead of throwing them away.
1. Treat Acne and Pimples
Green tea has great antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can help fight pimples and acne. Use it by soaking used green tea bags (3-4) in a small cup of hot water, let them sit for 30 minutes and then apply the tea to the problem areas with a cotton ball. Do this 2 times a day.
2. Improve Skin Complexion
To improve your skin complexion, get an even skintone and increase skin elasticity, use green tea as a mask. Cut open 2 used green tea bags and get their content out. Mix them with a just a bit of hot water, add a few drops of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply to your face, let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Use 2 times a week.
3. Reduce Dark Circles
If you wake up with dark circles and puffy eyes, green tea is your best friend. Just soak two used green tea bags in some warm water and then put them on your eyes/dark circles. Let them sit for at least 10 minutes and then apply your normal morning skincare routine. Do not rinse!
4. Stimulate Hair Growth
The high amount of antioxidants in green tea can help stimulate new hair growth. All you need is a few used green tea bags: boil them and while waiting for the solution to cool, wash your hair as you normally do with a shampoo, and then rinse with the green tea solution, massaging it into your scalp.
